About the role

As an Infrastructure Systems Engineer, you will design and operate backend services that ingest, validate, and publish large infrastructure datasets. You will own reliability, integrations, and the technical contracts that connect GIS systems, automation jobs, and operational dashboards.

What you'll do

  • Build and maintain data processing services, APIs, and event-driven workflows in cloud environments
  • Integrate GIS platforms, spatial databases, and enterprise data sources with consistent schemas and lineage
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, and runbooks for pipeline health and exception routing
  • Partner with analysts and validation specialists to encode business rules into scalable systems
  • Improve performance, security, and deployability across staging and production environments

What we're looking for

  • 3+ years backend or platform engineering experience (Python, Node, Go, or similar)
  • Strong skills in REST APIs, SQL databases, and message/queue patterns
  • Experience deploying services on AWS, Azure, or GCP with infrastructure-as-code familiarity
  • Ability to reason about data pipelines, idempotency, and failure recovery
  • Degree in computer science, engineering, or demonstrable equivalent experience

Nice to have

  • Telecom, fiber, or utility asset management domain knowledge
  • GIS service integration (ArcGIS REST, PostGIS, feature services)
  • Container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines
